Hands

Today in our sacrament meeting we got to hear from a member of the high council. For a moment he talked about our hands, and how our hands shape our lives into what we want them to be. He said "Look down at your hand for a moment, scientists say that the human hand is one of the most complex things on the human body. And we are the only organisms that have them in the complexity that we do. Our hands can create as no other organisms on earth." I thought this was super neat to think about. I started thinking of all the things you do with your hands on a daily basis, the basics like put on your clothes, style your hair, eat, clean, write, the list goes on and on, then i started thinking of all the things we could do with our hands that help someone else, your hand can give a friendly wave, shake another hand upon meeting, comfort the weary, pull weeds at and elderly widow neighbors home, in sign language your hand can say i love you, and worthy men's hands can use the power of the priesthood to offer a blessing to the ill. The Savior used his hands to heal, to comfort and to create. Interesting how ours can do the same. Our hands have the abilty to bear testimony of God without our words, if we are using them to serve others. I'm greatful that i was able to go to church today and to get this little bit of food for thought, to be reminded how blessed and loved i really am.
